Origin of our Honey

We founded The Art of Honey to share the unparalleled enjoyment of fresh honey that we have experienced in many countries. Compared to conventional supermarket honey, our selected varieties have taste, deep aroma and a noticeable vitality that testifies to an untreated natural product. Few people know that according to EU law, all imported honey has to be pasteurized, i.e. heated. This means that even honeys from supermarkets with the label BIO (mixture from EU and non-EU countries) have already lost their vital substances and are often an industrially produced mixture that has neither a characteristic taste nor life.

What you will find with us
are lively, tasty and unusual honeys
– real powerhouses of nature!

Germany

On the banks of the Rhine we have our own bees which enjoy the blossoms of cherry, apple and plum trees and also a large variety of blossoms. The late harvest in May usually had a clearly single proportion of linden trees. The honey is wonderfully delicious and fruity, fits perfectly in summer lemonades, in muesli or on bread. Our bees get a lot of attention and are well cared for.

Spain

With friends we run a Guesthouse and Yoga Retreat Center in Denía, Spain. That’s why we travel there several times a year. In the mountainous area between Alicante and Valencia there are the perfect conditions for beekeeping. We personally buy the honey seasonally from beekeeper friends – after extensive tasting on site.

Ukraine

We have also been running a center for yoga and mindfulness in the Ukraine for 5 years. In Ukraine we also decided to share our passion for honey and found The Art of Honey. Ukraine has breathtaking wild nature and huge forests and meadows which ensure incomparably strong and fresh honey.

Poland

Our friend Andrew comes to Germany every month and brings us some of his delicious honeys. We got to know him in the beekeeping forum, where there is a lively exchange about the practice of beekeeping. There are tens of thousands of small beekeepers’ associations, forums and groups through which beekeepers exchange ideas regionally and nationally, exchange and sell bees and trunks and meet seasonally for honey tasting.

India

Every January, members of the Honig team travel to India for an annual retreat at Mount Arunachala in the state of Tamil Nadu. The highlands are known for coffee and herb plantations and one of the highlights of the trip is the selection of the natural honeys that we bring back from there every year, such as neem, tulsi and jungle herbs.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka surprised us. We have never seen such expensive honey in stores. Since all natural products in Sri Lanka are very cheap by western standards, the high price of honey made us curious. It slowly turned out that in Sri Lanka almost no conventional beekeeping is practiced, but instead the honey is taken from wild bee colonies in the jungle. We were curious and talked on the phone for a long time until a group of locals’ took us to look for natural honey in the wilderness, despite the dangers of snakes, wild elephants, crocodiles and leopards. A small film was made there.

We sell Ambrosia Wild Bee Honey exclusively to private customers and only have a very limited stock.
