Honey massage is a type of soft tissue massage in which honey is poured onto the area to be massaged. This type of massage can be very relaxing or slightly painful, contingent on which kind of technique is being used. Before the honey massage, the masseur must make sure that the patient is not allergic to honey. The essence of honey massage is the use of honey as a substance with adhesive properties. The honey is poured onto the area to be massaged, then the masseur places his or her hands on this area and releases the glue from the palms. What is easy at first becomes more difficult with each movement as the tension increases. The natural endpoint of the massage is when the palms no longer stick to the area being massaged and the honey fades away from it. The actual duration depends on the type and quality of the honey.
